Orangutan River Cruise

Upon arrival at the Palangka Raya airport you will be met by one of our representative in the arrivals hall and transferred to the harbor to start the journey. We will sail past the homes of residents living alongside the river in the provincial capital of Palangka Raya. After the urban area, we will along the forest and village until the stop to do the canoeing activity. We will be canoeing in a glittering black water lake. The water is black does not mean contaminated water; it comes from a bath of plant roots for hundreds of years and even thousands of years. The local residents believe that this water is efficacious for treat the disease. During the canoeing the guests have to keep on eye around because there are so many wild animals that are interesting to observe. After canoeing, we will return to the ship and continue the sailing. Wake up and the crew will prepare delicious breakfast for you. In breakfast time you will sail along the Rungan River to Bapallas Island and switch to a small motor boat to observe Orangutans living freely. The journey continues towards the BOSF (Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation) where the orangutans are trained to return to the wildlife. The BOSF has a function to Rescue, rehabilitation and reintroduction of orangutans and other protected species (sun bears), obtaining governmental permissions and approvals for reintroduction sites, translocation activities and post-release and translocation monitoring. (Only open on Saturday and Sunday)

After visiting BOSF, we will return to the Ship to enjoy lunch while sailing to Kanarakan, a tiny riverside village on the Rungan River. Arriving in kanarakan, you will be welcomed by the villagers and will be invited to get around their village. In here you will see local plantation, rubber tapping and other village activities. After tired of traveling around, guests will be invited to the village leader’s house and the host will serve Spice coffee. During enjoy the coffee also allowed to conduct question and answer session to the villagers. Back to the boat and cruise down to Lake Tahai. [B/L/D]

Breakfast on board and will continue sailing to Sei Gohong with passes the Orangutan pre-release island of Pulau Kaja. Arrived at sei gohong and then we will be invited to meet with traditional healer. After a short chat, we will be invited to find the plants used for treatment. The villager will explain the names and functions of each plant they find. After getting a knowledge about the nutritious crops, we will be escorted back to the ship, to sail downstream of Katimpun village. [B/L/D]

Breakfast and the journey continued katurun village. You will surround the village to the cultural center to see the performance of traditional music and other traditional arts. Afterward, Take the boat for your last sailing to Rambang Harbour in Palangka raya. Upon arrival in harbor and then transfer to hotel or airport for your next program. [B/L]
